Reforestation Pre-Feasibility: Calicanto, Ecuador
The land within the Ecuadorian Dry Forests ecoregion was inspected for areas without significant canopy cover. This is a pre-feasibility investigation of the total area that would be eligible for reforestation carbon credits.
The complete carbon investigation will use forest reference levels and more advanced satellite analysis, followed by a site visit for field validation. Based on the Ecuadorian Dry Forests ecoregion, potential native species for planting include Prosopis juliflora (a type of mesquite), palo santo, golden trumpet, laurel, ebony, and various cedar species. These are chosen for their adaptability and value in carbon sequestration and ecosystem restoration.
Analysis Results
Total Potential Planting Area (>0.93 similarity): 577.35 hectares
As a placeholder, we estimate that 250-350 tCO2e will be captured per hectare for a total credit value of: 144,336 – 202,071 tCO2e
